I just thought I'd write and express our gratitude and relay our thanks for a wonderful weekend in your cottage. My wife, myself and Gus the dog enjoyed a wonderful weekend staying in Town Head House. The cottage is very well appointed, catering very well for all needs. Your cottages are excellently situated in the very rural location which lends itself to a very relaxing, peaceful stay. On a clear night the stars are magical and the countryside is bursting with wildlife. We will unquestionably be returning as we found Cotterdale the ideal place to recharge the batteries.

We arrived at Eller Haw Cottage at the beginning of December and despite some indifferent weather, we were astounded by the beautiful setting of Cotterdale. Later it snowed heavily making everything look magical. Wildlife in abundance, we saw many Red Squirrels and 'yes' the cottage is perfect in every way.

There can be no other place like the hamlet of Cotterdale in the whole of the Yorkshire Dales. It's like stepping back in time to the glorious days of farming, hunting and Drystone walling. We have never experienced nights as dark as this, no light intrusion Thanks!

It has absolutely everything to offer. . .there's not a thing that Gaynor and Nick haven't thought of and provided! The cottage is in the most stunning location of Cotterdale with the beck gracefully passing by the back garden!As we stayed there near Christmas it was extremely kind and thoughtful of Gaynor and Nick to provide a Christmas Tree and decorations! We had the most wonderful stay and I certainly recommend it to anyone wishing to step into a fairy-tale and experience the most tranquil and picturesque adventure that Eller Haw and Cotterdale have to offer. We will most certainly be returning, as soon as possible. I hope! Thank You Gaynor, Nick and the Cleaner for such a fabulous time in your amazing cottage! Looking forward to meeting you again.

Eller Haw Cottage was a delight to visit. The cleanest holiday cottage we have ever visited in 30 years of cottage holidays. Beautiful linen and every little thing you might need is in the holiday cottage. Extremely comfortable and the positioning beside the Beck is wonderful. Our dog loved her daily plays in it, and we loved the peaceful sound. The views are phenomenal. We booked for next year before we even left the cottage. The cottage owners are attentive but unobtrusive and extremely pleasant. There are walks from the door for all abilities.

Well equipped lovely warm cottage, sometimes a bit to warm! our grown up children and partners joined us for a long weekend at the beginning of our week and didn't want to go home. We did walk up to Abbotside common and down the Pennine Way and back to Cotterdale twice, Stunning views!

If you enjoy high moorland walks, fell running, mountain biking and/or cycling up BIG hills, Eller Haw Cottage in Cotterdale (at the foot of the Pennine Way) near Hawes makes a great base. Don't bother bringing your mobile 'phone. . . there's no reception (thank goodness). But that's not to say that the cottage is without its creature comforts: as well as central heating, the cottage has WiFi and Sky tv. . . so after cycling up Tan Hill (ouf!) and walking some of the Pennine Way we were even able to get a few beers in to watch the cycling world championships of tv. Cotterdale wont suit you though if you are spooked by COMPLETE silence and pitch black darkness at night. This is a great place for stargazing when the skies are clear and I can see why it is a haven for dog walkers; pets are welcome at the cottage and in the village, which is also home to a colony of red squirrels (who seem to enjoy running along the stone walls on the other side of the field across the brook at the bottom of the garden). It's a good area for bird watching too: I saw a few harriers whilst we were out on our bikes..

Wonderfully appointed cottage. Meticulously clean and lovely welcome goodies for a nice cuppa after a long drive! Location is superb as are the views. Wildlife abundant and very friendly which the dog found fascinating!

This is the second time we have stayed at Town Head House, luckily we came across it last year the property was brilliant then and the improvements which have been made this year are amazing wish we could have stayed longer. The cottage is situated in an amazing hamlet one and a half miles from the main road with fantastic views, if you want seclusion and tranquillity this is the place for you. The cottage is so well equipped and has everything you could possibly want and you do not even have to bring any towels a they are also supplied. We will definitely be returning again next year for our main holiday and hopefully for another break earlier in the year. Every day without fail we saw red squirrels apart from all the other wildlife which could be seen from the kitchen window. Nearby Hawes has great facilities and the people are really friendly, a must is a trip to the Wensleydale Creamery where you can taste all the cheeses that they make. Hi Gaynor, Arrived back home in Plymouth last night having spent the 2nd week of our holiday at a cottage in the Lake District. The consensus of opinion between the 4 of us was that we wished we had reversed the fortnight and spent the 2nd week at Eller Haw because having stayed at your truly beautiful and enchanting cottage which surpassed our expectations in every way we just knew that the cottage in the Lake District was going to be a "come down", and it was. Having said that, the cottage in the Lake District was very nice in its own way but, if we were to do a comparison "tick list", all the ticks would be on the Eller Haw side of the chart.
A truly wonderful experience at your cottage and we will certainly be recommending it to all our friends and relatives as well as making sure that we, ourselves, make a return visit.

Our second visit to Cotterdale cottages. We have stayed in Eller Haw Cottage and Town Head House, they are both very well equipped and very comfortable. Cotterdale is so peaceful the gardens are a haven for wildlife, various birds and red squirrels visit daily. Gaynor is very helpful we certainly be back again.

Town Head House is a superb holiday cottage. This lovely cottage is set in a beautiful quiet position. We felt at home the minute we stepped inside. Comfy 3 piece suit. Lots of information in the folders. Very comfy beds with pristine bedding. Lovely bathroom with bath and a separate shower. The kitchen is very well equipped. We had a fabulous week.

We have to say it was a wonderful place with personal touches here and there to make our stay very comfortable. We'd checked out many holiday cottages before finally deciding on Cotterdale. We were quite surprised how many required us to take our own bed linen and towels. This would have been fine if we hadn't of been taking our Land rover and Poppy the dog, which meant very limited space in the back with her, the children too. We loved the fact that there was an old butler's sink full of fresh herbs in the garden (which I certainly made use of), some little toiletries in the bathroom for emergencies, Whiffy (the kids were mega happy), a slow cooker (never used one so was thrilled to have to chance to) and the most comfortable beds and bedding we've ever come across.

Town Head House is furnished and equipped with good quality fittings. no grubby, sagging sofas here! Much above the usual cottage holiday let standard. Gaynor very welcoming and helpful. The beck was dog heaven and the wildlife was people heaven. Saw the red squirrel often, enchanting.

A fantastic cottage in a beautiful location. It was very clean and well equipped for our family including our 1 year old boy. Watching the wildlife in the garden and having the beck was good. Would come again and highly recommend. Seeing red squirrels sitting on the garden wall is just an added bonus and an amazing sight.

I came to Cotterdale as a child and thought it's about time I brought my own family to create some new memories and they have loved it here as much as, I have. Town Head House is a great place to stay with everything you need to enjoy your visit. We've had several visits from the red squirrels, seen deer in the woodland and a wide variety of bird life in the garden and surrounding area, I've even has a baby woodpecker sat on my hand!. Cotterdale is as beautiful and peaceful as I remember and we all can't wait to come back.

We hired the two cottages for my sister in laws 60th birthday. What a lovely location.
The cottages are lovely and warm everything you could need for self catering was in the cottages.
Very pleasant and cosy the dogs were very comfy.
Had a lovely stay in Town Head Cottage, The weather was wet to say the least.
We did manage to gat a walk in and went into Hawes on the Sunday. We have been to Hawes and surrounding area many times (love it).
My husband left his waterproof trousers behind and you kindly posted them to us without delay, most grateful.

The location and setting of the cottage is very beautiful - the beck running alongside we loved, plus the varied wildlife and the scenery of the whole dale.

We love the isolated location in Cotterdale even the drive from the main road. Hawes is easy to get to and supplied all our needs. Lots of great walks locally and even more if you venture a little further a field, get a copy of The Inn Way & To Black Sheep Pubs for inspiration. A Fantastic getaway, would love to return in the winter too.

We have stayed at Town Head House and Eller Haw, holiday Cottages many times over the years, sometimes we've visited twice a year; We have always loved both cottages with a passion and the beautiful area. But Gaynor has made them both even better. As well as all the improvements she has added some delightful little touches here and there.

This was our first time to the Yorkshire Dales and we loved it. Sure to be back soon. The holiday cottage was great and we were more than content sitting in the garden watching the wildlife. The weather was kind to us and we had some wonderful walks from the cottage including up the Pennine Way to Great Shunner Fell.

We had a lovely 2 weeks stay in the self catering holiday cottage Town Head House. The cottage has been beautifully looked after and is very well equipped for a self catering cottage. We loved the garden it was so peaceful.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this cosy holiday cottage set in a wonderful position with wildlife to watch each day. A good location for touring this beautiful area of the Yorkshire Dales and we had some lovely walks.

Dear Gaynor, I just wanted to say thank you for allowing us to stay at Town Head House self catering holiday cottage. It was quite possibly the most peaceful and beautiful location we have ever stayed in. The weather was superb which always helps. We managed to find the right balance between a bit of walking and sightseeing whilst keeping the children amused. They enjoyed trying to alter the course of the Cotter beck having succeeded in building a dam as a very keen shooting person I enjoyed talking with the Estate Gamekeepers and seeing all the wildlife. Although I shoot pheasants and partridges during the winter months I hadn't until our stay seen grouse and we were particularly fortunate that the ones we saw had chicks, as did the oyster catchers and the curlews. The 2 red squirrels which came for a feed made a pleasant change from the Greys which frequent our own garden. I will certainly mention to friends what a great place it is, who knows they may even book a holiday. Anyway Thanks again and good luck with your venture.

Hi Gaynor, What a beautiful holiday cottages, Town Head House, spotlessly clean, comfortable and very welcoming. It was a real treat to sit having breakfast and watching the birds eat theirs! Also to sit out in the garden, beck running by and the red squirrel sat in the tree watching us. The weather was lovely. We shall definitely return, as we have done for several years. Our visit has been great the weather although chilly was bright and sunny. The surroundings are so picturesque. Just sitting having breakfast with the door open watching the birds is a treat in itself. Town Head House holiday cottage Yorkshire is a pleasure to come into and the kitchen has every gadget you need for your stay. Suggestions for improvements, I don't think you can improve perfection.

Hi Gaynor, Just a quick email to say how much we enjoyed our stay at Eller Haw Cottage. The holiday cottage was lovely and so clean, smart and well-equipped (unlike a few places we've stayed over the years!!) and the setting is fantastic. I managed to spot a red squirrel but poor Julie didn't (I was taking out the rubbish and it ran across the road). We got to know one of the sheep quite well as she and her two lambs seem to have worked out how to get out of the field and onto the grass by the cottage! We are already thinking about booking again later in the year.

Town Head House is a fantastic self catering holiday cottage it was absolutely immaculate with the best equipped kitchen we have ever had. The location is fabulous it is a warm and welcoming place to stay, really lovely. Cotterdale North Yorkshire is tranquil and full of wildlife.

Dear Gaynor We just wanted to say thank you for a brilliant stay in Town Head House Yorkshire. A simply amazing cottage in a tranquil, relaxing, extremely beautiful location - a real gem, so pleased we stayed here and would highly recommend. All ages catered for. Amazing wildlife, thank you for providing squirrel and bird food also the inclusion of all the baby equipment was very surprising as was the provision of the fishing nets, games, books and toys for all ages, you have forgotten nothing to make your stay a memorable one. Town Head House exceeded all expectations. We have already told all our friends about your cottages and plan to return next summer it's a shame we can't return this year but not enough time in the year.

Just a line to say we had a wonderful time at your self catering holiday cottage Town Head House, even though the weather was freezing cold, then it snowed quite heavily. We did two good walks but it was hard going. We will be returning, even if it's to get my book back, which I left under the bed. It is so magical.

We had SUCH a gorgeous break in Eller Haw Cottage. Despite not fabulous weather for most of the time (no clear sky for stars, alas) it was the perfect break. And the surprise went down very well indeed! Just wanted to say thank you for a wonderful time, it was bliss.
